I made this Barbie Mariposa cake for our niece. She loves Barbie and I wanted to do something different from the cakes that look like Barbie’s gown. So I decided to do the Butterfly Fairy Barbie (Barbie Mariposa).
I made a 14 inch round cake and cut it in half. I turned the halves the opposite way (facing out) and cut notches on each side. This created the butterfly shape. I proceeded with my butter cream icing to do my crumb coat and I then designed and filled the butterfly design on the cake. The sides I did to look like pink ruffles.
After the icing set up on the cake some I placed Barbie on it. The cake was a hit and the birthday girl thought it was so beautiful!
