So my little nephew is a crazy sports fan. I personally do not have any kids but somehow I have become the family cake maker. So when my now 7 year old nephew looked at me and asked me to “please..oh please make him a baseball cake..all round just like a real ball” ..what could I do but make a cake?
I used 2 boxes of mix and added my own flavor and strawberry preserves for an extra boost. I used homemade buttercream frosting as a foundation for the fondant laid on top.
The rope ties are made with hand rolled fondant and red food coloring. It was rather easy…you can get a fully round or half round ball pan at Michael’s.
So needless to say my cake was a success and a even better a hit. My nephew was so happy – Priceless.
