I made this Baseball glove cake for an end-of-season party for our co-ed softball team. It was a hit! (no pun intended).
First, I baked a ten inch layer of vanilla and a ten inch layer of chocolate cake. After cooling, I stacked them with butter cream between and refrigerated it. Then I carved it to look like a ball glove. I carved a ball shape from the scrap, then iced everything with butter cream and chocolate butter cream.
I rolled out some fondant (Wilton pre-made) and used an exacto knife to cut out our logo. I also covered the ball in a thin layer of fondant. Finally, I added laces and details.
Everyone loved it, and no one wanted to cut it. There was even a “fight” over who got to take the ball home!
I would definitely recommend taking step by step pictures when making cakes so you have references for when you have to do another of the same!
