This Basketball Jersey And Ball Birthday Cake was for my son on his 11th birthday. It was a total of 4 cakes. Chocolate, triple chocolate, strawberry, and funfetti.
I baked two cakes in a 13×9 cookie sheet for the base of the cake. After baking those cakes, I let them cool then put both cakes side by side to make one whole flat base. I put blue icing on the bottom to color the base of the cake. Then another cake was baked in a 13×9 regular cake pan for the jersey.
After cake was baked I let the cake cool then I carved the cake into the shape of a jersey. I placed the jersey on the base on the cake. Next another cake was baked in a large stainless steel bowl to make the basketball. That cake had to bake a little longer due to the cake being pretty deep. This cake was baked 1 hr 15 minutes to 1 hr 35 minutes. Just keep checking it.
After cake was baked, the cake was placed on the other side of the base of the cake. Then I put icing on the jersey I decorated it green, since my son likes the team Boston Celtics and put my son’s name on the jersey and the number 11 for his age. I decorated the ball as a basketball.
This was a great cake and fed A LOT of people. Everyone enjoyed it because they could get 2 flavors in one. GREAT cake!
