I made this homemade Ben 10 Alien Force birthday cake for my son’s 6th birthday. It’s just a basic 9″ two layer cake made from a Betty Crocker box mix and Betty Crocker frosting from the can between the layers and on top below the fondant.
This was my first time using fondant and from now on every time I use it in the future I’ll use the Wilton flavoring to add taste to it. After I put the layer of fondant over the top of the cake I rolled out another piece for the character. My mom printed out a picture of the character from the computer and then re-sized it to fit. I cut out his body and the wings so I could trace around them with a Wilton Cake Writer in black.
Then I used a red cake writer to fill in the body, a yellow one for the wings and face, and a green one for the eyes. Then I colored some Wilton Ready to Use Decorator Icing with Wilton kelly green and leaf green icing colors. I piped with a small round tip for the wording and shadowing on the top, and piped with a big round tip for the balls around the base of the cake.
All together this was definitely the fastest cake I have ever decorated.
