Cute Homemade Birthday Barbie Cake

I made this Birthday Barbie Cake following the Betty Crocker Recipe. This was my first attempt to make one of these cakes. My daughter was turning 7 and said :Mom I would love to have a Barbie birthday party. So I saw this website and saw how everyone tried this.

I didn’t use the Fondant. Although Fondant looks beautiful and realistic, to me and others I know don’t like the way it tastes. This cake does take a lot of time to make and decorate but I had lots of fun doing it. I really love the tip of using paper to smooth the frosting out. I found a ballet Barbie, added to her the 7 and hot glued it in her hand. I also found the star wands in her at the party store.

I made her hat out of pink foam crafting stuff, I had the white ribbon and used it at the last minute. Everything else on this cake is eatable. My daughter couldn’t believe it was a cake, I got lots of compliments on this cake and really enjoyed it.
