My baby girl wanted to have Princess birthday party so I decided to make her a princess cake. I used 2 Duncan Hines cake mixes and made my own butter cream icing. To bake the cake I made one box of mix and poured it into the Pampered Chef Classic Batter Bowl which I greased then floured. I put it in the oven at 325 degrees for about 70 minutes.
Then I made the second cake mix and divided that between a 9-in. and 8-in. cake pan, (I didn’t have 2 8-in pans and I wanted the thickness of the 8-in.) I baked those according to package directions. Once the cakes were completely cooled I put all 3 cakes in the freezer for a couple of hours to make them easier to work with. I cut the high spots off of the cakes and placed the 9-in layer on the cake board and covered the top with icing.
Then, I put the 8-in cake on top of that, which I topped with icing. I then placed the bowl cake on top. I cut the bottom two layers to be even with the bowl. This made the skirt look longer. Once the whole cake was iced I inserted Princess Aurora into the top of the cake. To make it easier I wrapped the dolls legs with Saran Wrap.
My daughter was so excited when she saw the final product and everyone loved the cake! This is the first time I have made this cake and I have to say it really wasn’t that hard!!
