My son insisted on a Homemade Bloody Dragon Cake so we went crazy. This cake was made with several round cakes cut in half then sandwiched together to make the body. We used wooden food skewers to hold the body together. Different diameter cake pans added some shape to the body. The tail is a round cake which was cut into a half-moon shape to simulate a tail. The head was a couple of cupcakes and small smaller pieces of cake baked in a small loaf pan. The claws were almonds dipped in chocolate. Red icing might look good too.
The wings were the hard part because they didn’t want to stay up. We made those using sugar cookie dough flattened into a large cookie then held up using more skewers.
The cool detail that we hope will both exite the group and maybe goss them out a bit (party is tomorrow) is that on my husband’s advice we put in a little strawberry preserves between the sections of cake in the dragon’s body…DRAGON GUTS! When we cut into the cake (which is also strawberry) the blood should ooze out a bit.
