This Book Cake Idea is made from chocolate and white 9 x 13 cake, halved, and stacked. I used a homemade butter cream covered in black fondant. The fondant is a little cracked which I thought added to the idea that this was a leather bound book.
After I covered it in fondant, I brushed it with water to make it shiner. I used a large serrated icing tip around the edge to give a look of pages. I think this would look good being a bible, but since this was made for school I picked a classic novel – East of Eden by John Steinbeck.
Everyone in my English class just loved the book. It looked very realistic and got me an A!
