This Boston Red Sox cake was for my father-in-law, the ultimate Sox Fan. He absolutely loved this. I got the idea from our local library. Most libraries have cake pans in all different shapes and themes, you can take out the pan just like a book with your library card.
The key to decorating this cake, is to make sure that when you are frosting it, that the temperature in the house is cool. The underside of the cake is mostly round, and if it is warm your frosting will slide off. I just used a basic confection sugar, milk, butter, vanilla, or almond flavoring, with a few teaspoons of marshmallow fluff to give it that pristine white look.
I do not measure the ingredients anymore since I make it all the time, but the frosting should be pliable enough to squeeze through a cake decorating kit. I used pampered chef easy accent decorator, and decorator bottle set, which work really good.
