I made this Bowling Birthday Cake for a family friend who loves bowling and red velvet cake. I used a store bought cake mix and made homemade whipped cream cheese frosting I found online.
I did run into some problems with the frosting not setting up like regular buttercream and with the fondant stars on the side slipping. Next time I will add more powdered sugar.
I made the bowling pins, stripes and stars accents on the cake and the cupcakes out of fondant. I sprinkled the cupcakes with blue and red sugars to tie in all the colors.
Overall it was a pretty simple cake to make and everyone loved it, especially the birthday star.
