My 2 year old grandson has a pet boxer dog named “Bindy”. I decided to make her a “Bindy” Boxer dog cake for his birthday. I searched this website for ideas and then put them together to create one of my own. My goal was to make it look enough like his pet that he would call it by name when he saw the cake.
I used a 9″ loaf pan for the body, a 8″ loaf pan cut into 4 pieces for the legs, a 5 1/2″ round for the head, and 3 1/4″ round for the mug. I melted down tootsie rolls and rolled them out between parchment paper for the ears. I used Hershey chocolate drops for the eyes and nose and a piece of Kit Kat for the mouth.
I had to put a chuck of cake under his chin to hold up the mug. For his tail, I just used a piece of cake that was left over. I used two cake mixes building this cake. I frosted it with the same markings that his dog had.
It was a success, he called the cake the dogs name!
This cake was for my son and he loved it! Grandma did a great job!
That’s a great cake! Our youngest is crazy about dogs so we’re going to try something like it for his birthday. Thanks for the idea!
