I used a 10-inch Wilton cake pan (three layers) and covered with buttercream frosting as the “glue” for the fondant. This was my first cake using fondant, so I was pretty scared, but everything came out amazing! I bought the ready-to-use fondant, rolled it out to my desired size, and laid it right over top of the cake.
The flowers and branches are made from gum paste, which were also relatively easy to do. Once I got going, they became easier and easier! I added a ribbon to the bottom to hide any imperfections in the fondant, and to add a little more color, and the balls all around the outside are made from fondant too!
Loved making this homemade bridal shower cake for my sister! If you enjoy making these kinds of cakes, don’t doubt yourself- give it a try… if I can do it, so can you!
