My husband and I made this Bumblebee Birthday Cake for our son’s 3rd birthday. I tried to talk him out of it but he insisted, so my husband drew out the head of Bumblebee on bristol board, he just looked at a picture from the computer and free handed it, and then just cut it out.
I then baked the cake in a square cake pan, any size will do. I then put the cut out head over top and and cut the head out on the cake. The difficult part for me was trying to do all the features. I started with the yellow first, and the moved on to the eyes which I had a really hard time with trying to line them up and make them the same was hard, not the best job but it worked, next I did the gray and finally the black and all the outlining.
It took me 2 hours to decorate it and I think it turned out pretty good, our son just loved it. Good thing I only do this for our sons birthday’s I could not make a living out of this. I hope everyone else enjoys it as much as our son did.
I think you did a great job! It’s nice to see a Transformer cake that wasn’t made with fondant. I think this looks great! Thanks for sharing, I might end up using yours for my son’s birthday!
