I made this butterfly cake for my daughter’s 2nd birthday because she loves butterflies. I got the idea from the internet. I baked 2 round 9 inch cakes and sandwiched them with buttercream icing, cut it in half and placed one half over to appear as the two wings. I used buttercream icing to decorate the wings. For the head and the body of the butterfly, I mixed in some more powdered sugar to the pink icing I had left over and made a ball of icing and added some corn flour to prevent it from sticking it to my hands. I used tooth picks for the antennas, chocolate candies for the eyes and used a pen clip to make a print for the mouth. I pressed the sides of the body with my fingers to make it look more like the body of a butterfly.
My daughter and everyone else loved it.
