I made this butterfly cake for my daughter’s 5th birthday, which falls on the first day of spring. We had visited this website a couple of weeks prior to her birthday, and she wanted a green butterfly like one she found here.
I modified it a bit and came up with this one using 4 heart shaped cake pans for the wings and 3 cup cakes for the body, using a total of only 2 boxed cake mixes. For the icing I used canned icing colored with bright gel food coloring found at the grocery store.
I love your idea! My twin girls are turning 1 in a couple of weeks and I would love to make a butterfly cake for them. I hope you don’t mind me using your idea. I love it!
Thanks!
Katie
