I made this homemade carousel birthday cake for my daughter’s 1st birthday. The 2 main cakes, and muffin size cake were made from basic vanilla cake mixes. They were covered with royal icing, coloured pink. The centre piece, was the centre roll from cling wrap, covered with musk sticks and fizzers. The horses, I found on eBay. I painted them and added the ribbon.
The cake itself was simple, I made them the day before, decorating the cake and balancing the top, was a headache! Decorating took a few hours. I didn’t put the top on until the last minute, cause I was too scared it would fall off! Once finished, it was a complete success, everyone loved it and it tasted great too!
