For my son’s 3rd birthday he wanted a “Cars” cake with McQueen, Mater and the tractor on it. I saw a Cars cake on this site with the number for a road and added to it.
I bought the cake undecorated at Publix and did all the decorations myself. I made a number 3 that covered the whole cake. The road was crushed Oreo cookies and yellow starburst for the lines on the road.
In the field for the tractor I used green dyed coconut and on the sides I used 100 calorie chocolate covered pretzels. I then made a “start/finish” sign out of scrapbook stickers and cardboard that said “Happy Birthday Brayden!
I never thought to have the cake pre-made so all I would have to do is decorate! Also, the crushed Oreos and starbursts are a WONDERFUL idea….since my guys are turning 3, I never thought to have the road shaped as a 3! I’m wondering if they have white chocolate for the pretzels, too….you know, black wall tires…they blend into the pavement! :-) I’m sure you must have seen the movie a thousand times as I have! :-) Thank you for including this fantastic cake! :-)
What a great idea! I was going to buy one and came across your ad on your cake. What a great job! I will have to borrow your ideas for my little son’s birthday as he is turning 3 as well and HE LOVE LIGHTING MCQUEEN. thanks Great job well done!
