I made two 14 inch round cakes for this Cars Racetrack Birthday Cake using Wilton’s Perfection pans. I cut a portion of the middle of each cake so that they would touch and form an 8. I purchased white buttercream frosting from our local bakery and tinted a portion black and green and left the remainder white.
I frosted the cake white with the exception of black for the asphalt and green for the grass. To get the grass in the middle of the road I set a small bowl while frosting and applying the “asphalt” sugar crystals. I tinted coconut green and applied that to the “grass” buttercream. I piped a border around the entire cake and the two green grass patches in the middle. I used white good n plenty candies for the middle of the track.
I purchased some of the cars from the store and added them to the track. I used clip art of a checkered flag for the happy birthday sign and a checkered tablecloth I cut to fit around a cake board.
Hi there, how did you make the asphalt sugar crystals?
I Ordered them online. I believe through a search on yahoo.
