Coolest Castle Birthday Cake

I made this castle birthday cake for my daughter Caroline’s 3rd birthday. She asked for a princess party and what, princess doesn’t deserve a castle cake, especially your own little princess. So I started by coming to this website and looking at all the cakes here and got some great ideas from all the cakes.

I started 3 days before her party. First I took cake cones and sugar cones and dipped them in white melted chocolate and rolled the sugar cones in pink sugar sprinkles. The next day I made the cakes, a double layer 12″ and double layer 9″ round cakes in strawberry mix. It took 4 boxes.

I also make Royal Icing flowers, that took some time but saved time while decorating the cake. On the day before her party I was ready to decorate. I stacked the cakes and frosted them, then I stacked the cones and then I added the pink dots around the cake and cones for decoration.

I took mini marshmallows and shook them in a bag with edible pink sprinkles and then lined them around the castle and put them on top of the cones. I used a Hershey’s Bar for the door and walk way and lined the door with M&M’s and the walk way with Pez.

I made a vine going up the cones as well as the front of the castle and then added the Royal Icing flowers and leaves. I added the princesses and then I was done! Believe it or not this was my first ever cake like this, I usually just do plan rectangle cakes and this was so much fun!

  1. I stuck them on to some frosting on the board and then stacked them putting more frosting between each one. then I put the deco frosting around them just to make sure, they held up pretty good. Just don’t refrigerate after dipping in the chocolate, they started to crack form being cold, they dry pretty fast so you can do it the same day!

  2. This is really a beautiful cake! Did you finish this the day before you needed it and just let it sit on your counter? I don’t have a freezer large enough to freeze the finished product. Thanks!

  3. Where did you get those figurines? I am having a party and those are the EXACT characters I need. Also, how much for each, or was it a set?

    Thanks :)

  4. I finished the cake the night before and put a cardboard box over it to absorb any moisture!

I actually found the figurines on Disneystore.com, they came as a set, I believe they were around $13 or so!
