My daughter had a Fairytale Themed Birthday party for her 5th Birthday last year. We got several ideas online and came up with our own design for a castle cake.
We made 4 homemade white cakes, so we could stack them and ice them in the middle. There were 2 large rectangles and 2 smaller round ones. We made our own vanilla whipped frosting, so it would be light and fluffy and frosted the entire cake white.
The night before the party we melted white chocolate and dipped ice cream cones in it to form five towers. There was a standard cone on the bottom, and a sugar cone on the top (the chocolate held them together). Once assembled, (we used skewers to hold the layers together) we decorated it with gum drops, Hershey chocolate and blue piping!
It was such a huge hit that all the guests took more pictures of the cake, then the Birthday girl!
