Coolest Castle Cake

I made this castle cake for my 4 year old daughter. She wanted a princess castle. I used the Wilton cake kit. The turrets are rolled in sugar crystals. The towers come white but we painted them purple which is her favorite color.

All flowers are individually made. I used homemade icing and tinted it the colors I needed. Using cake dowel rods is essential for this type of cake since it is a layered cake. To get the tallest towers to stay straight, use a lot of icing around it. I pre-iced everything that I can beforehand, ex: all of the windows and the main door. When placing door on use a lot of icing on the back of it so it will stay.

The cake mix is a white extra moist mix. This is such a fun cake to make and decorate. My daughter, her friends, and parents loved it.
