I copied the other cakes in this website and this Cheeseburger And Fries Cake came out wonderfully! I used 2 yellow cake mixes for the bun (1 for the top bun baked in a large glass Pyrex bowl) and half a cake mix in an 8 inch round cake pan. I used chocolate frosting as a base and added vanilla to lighten it. (note: start out with half a can of chocolate, not the whole can or it will be too dark) Rice Krispies on top made the sesame seeds.
For the meat I used a chocolate cake mix in a 9″ round pan and frosted it using chocolate frosting and crushed chocolate cookies pressed onto the outside of the frosting for a textured meat look.
The cheese and tomatoes were made of fondant that I colored (got many people asking if it was real cheese!) and the lettuce was just colored frosting piped in. Note: Wilton gel food coloring is the best for getting true colors!!
The fries were made of sugar cookies cut into wedges and sprinkled with granulated sugar just before baking. Ketchup was just more colored frosting.
It was a lot of work but fun and rewarding when you see people’s faces light up! My nephew and niece loved the cake…they wanted to eat it but didn’t want to ruin it.
