My sons and I decided to make my husband a Chewbacca Star Wars cake since they are into that now. I got the basic shape idea from other photos online and various Star Wars books we have at home.
I used 2 sheet cake sized pans and then put them together and carved the outline of Chewbacca using a knife. I made it a 2 layer yellow cake and made a filling of vanilla pudding with sliced bananas. I then just used about 2 cans of chocolate frosting from the store to make the fur and spread it so it looked like hair–I used lots of chocolate frosting!
For the eyes I colored store bought white frosting with black Wilton food dye and used mini brown M&M’s for the pupils with a speck of white frosting for a reflection. The nose is made from black icing and the mouth is also black icing.
For teeth I used white Tic Tacs with a pink Laffy Taffy (or some such candy) for the tongue. For his ammo shoulder strap (I don’t know what this is called) I used large marshmallows and a Hershey bar broken into the individual pieces. Enjoy!
wondering how she made the eyes look as real as they do. love the cake and ideas.
Fantastic- I am making a Chewbacca cake for my son’s 18th birthday. I looked online for inspiration and saw your photo- great I will try and do the same.
I made my own for my brother’s birthday. I followed you instructions & it turned out great.
Thank you very much for sharing!!
Thanks! I made this cake last year for my son’s 5th birthday and he requested it again this year for his “kid’s” birthday party.
