A friend asked me to make her son’s 16th birthday cake. She said he was into beatboxing so it needed music notes over it. Her other request was that it be a mudcake loaded with chocolate. To get the height I needed three cakes. The bottom layer was larger then the top layer which had two cakes in it. I covered it with chocolate ganache and then made a sleeve of chocolate to go around each layer.
To make the music notes I melted dark chocolate in the microwave and poured it into a zip-up lunch bag. I then snipped of the corner and piped the chocolate onto baking paper in the shape of music notes. I covered the top of the cake with white chocolate ganache and used bought black piping icing to form the lines on top. When the notes were set I placed them on and around the cake. To get the blue chocolate I used Wilton candy melts and the rest was yummy Cadbury chocolate. The stars I made out of sugar paste and pushed onto florist wire.
To finish off the Homemade Chocolate Music Note Cake I piped leftover white gananche around the base of the cake.
