I wanted to make my boy/girl twins second birthday as special as their first. As tradition holds passed down from my mom, I plan to make and decorate all their cakes until they ask me not to! It adds an extra special touch. I decided to do the Clifford the Big Red Dog theme.
I researched the Clifford the big Red Dog cake on this site for ideas. That’s where I picked up the idea to use the Wilton lazy dog cake pan-it worked perfectly. I also purchased the Wilton house cake pan-it can be used for a dog house, a princess house, a Christmas house, etc.
The base of the cake was two sheet cakes put together and piped with green frosting for the grass. I put Clifford on top, and then his dog house. I also made Cleo cut out cookies and put one in front of the dog house. I used a box cake mix because honestly everyone loves that, with the addition of a packet of pudding mix, as recommended to make the cake more stable. I use the Wilton buttercream frosting recipe which is delicious-by far greater tasting than store bought!
The cake was a huge hit and I was a proud mommy!
The cake is adorable!! What a good mommy!! You have some lucky kids to have a great mom like you!
I love your cake. I think I will make Kenzie’s next year. You are truly inspirational!
The cake is adorable. It must have taken so many hours!!! With two two year olds that is certainly an act of love!!!
You, my friend, are amazing. I don’t know how you do it all, but you some how manage to top yourself again and again! I am in awe!!! I can’t get over how cute that cake is! Also, how much did that thing weight??? A+ in my opinion!
