This is only my third cake I have ever made and I am very proud of it. I made this Clifford The Big Red Dog Cake for my cousin’s third Birthday Party. The cake itself is funfetti with vanilla buttercream icing.
There are two 9″ cakes stacked under the fondant. The fondant is vanilla satin ice and was colored a light green. I used 2.5 lbs to get the right amount to cover the cake. The Clifford dog is made out of gum paste and I watched a great video on you tube to see how to do it. It was actually the easiest part of the cake. The bones are made from gum paste as well. I just made these by looking at bones online.
I colored the dog food to look like Purina and it is made of gum paste also. The gum paste items were left out several days for sufficient drying time. The paw prints are buttercream colored black using a writing tip. The grass is buttercream as well only colored a darker green and I used a grass tip. I glued the dog on the cake with a dab of buttercream. I glued the extra dogfood lying on the ground with a toothpick dipped in corn syrup.
The neat thing is the dog can be kept in an airtight container for a long time as a souvenir.
Wow!! This is awesome! Great job!
