I started this Homemade Cookie Monster Birthday Cake with a round pan for the base of the cake made from one cake mix. Then for the top I used one of the bowl shaped pans also using one complete cake mix. I added a layer of frosting underneath the bowl cake to help steady it on top of the round cake.
Using buttercream icing I simply smeared with a butterknife a layer of black tinted frosting for the mouth area. Afterwards I used two large chocolate chip cookies (the hard kind) not fresh baked as they will not hold up, as they eyes. I used white buttercreme frosting to cover them with after I just pushed them down into the cake on top.
Then using a large round tip and piping bag I added the black for pupils. When I had the eyes completed using the same buttercreme frosting tinted blue I used the “fur” tip..sorry…don’t know the number, and started from the base of the cake and worked my way up. After the first “fur” layer I went back and added more in random places for a more in depth look. Take a cookie and slide it straight into Cookies Monsters mouth and add cookie crumbs if desired. I also used a bit of frosting on bottom of cookie crumbs to keep them from sliding off the board.
Awesome cake!!! Your talented :)
