I was a bit pressed for time for this cricket pitch cake as it turned out to be a surprise for my twelve year old. I baked two round cakes and layered them. I then decorated with butter icing. I used chocolate log biscuits for fence and stumps. The chocolate variety for the fence was used, and for the stumps, I used the vanilla variety.
I colored coconut with green food coloring as the grass, and used chocolate vermicelli pieces as the sandy areas. The actual wicket was decorated with a darker shade of green. The bat was a mini bat covered in foil and decorated with three colors of insulation tape (just for decorative purposes and obviously inedible). The ball was a red colored cake pop. The bat and ball completed the cake.
