My son turned 1 in July and we were having over 30 family members for the bash (my hubby has a VERY large family). This crocodile cake was too small to feed all those people so I also made croc cupcakes. I got the idea from someone on this website who suggested they had derived their creativity from Family Fun.com.
I used a bundt pan and followed the directions online. Cutting it in 3 and shaping it in a zigzag pattern. It was tricky making the tail as I had to slice the last bit of the bundt in half diagonally but I finally got it and icing covered all my mistakes.I used malt balls and marshmallows for the eyes. Malt balls for his nostrils and spearmint gummy leaves for his claws and scales.I had trouble cutting the yogurt covered pretzels (it made his teeth look dirty and broken) so I inverted them and left the “humps” out of his mouth as his teeth. This made him look friendly like he was smiling.
The cupcakes really finished it off. Everyone thought it was terribly cute! I was pleased! I want to be that “Martha Stewart” mom and the ideas shared on this website are an immense help in executing any cake idea or design.
