I used these directions as a starting point for this crown cake…
However, I did not use royal icing for my crown, I used white candy melts. (The design of the crown needs to be simpler, because you cannot get as fine a line with the candy melts.) And I added small jelly beans (jelly belly type) as “jewels”.
The name plaque and Disney princess pictures are frozen buttercream transfers (directions here: http://www.cakecentral.com/article12-How-To-Create-a-Frozen-Buttercream-Transfer.html), but I wasn’t pleased with how they turned out.

great crown I did mine out of fondant. The royal icing was more difficult than I imagined.
I used candy melts because I find them easier to work with than the royal icing. I think I went over the same pattern about three times, to make sure the crown was strong enough.
