I made this homemade daisy cake for a friend. Daisies are her favorite flower.
This cake was quite easy to make. It’s an 8-inch chocolate/chocolate chip cake with cream cheese frosting. It is a 2 layer cake. I was playing with a product that is new to me. The chocolate fondant is by Satin Ice. It is absolutely delicious, tastes like really soft tootsie rolls. I love how the white daisies really stand out against the chocolate fondant.
The funniest part about this cake is that I only would take pictures only from one side. I didn’t exactly figure out how many daisies were needed to cover the whole cake and ran about five or six short. There is a very large, empty, brown space on the other side of the homemade daisy cake.
While I had my back turned, my friend took a picture of the bald side, trying to be all sneaky. She thinks she’s so funny. It didn’t matter because I decorated the cake, we took pictures and then we devoured it. It was still a little warm from the oven so the frosting was melting into it. It was absolutely delicious, if I do say so myself.
What did you use for the center of the flowers? Dyed fondant?
