I make an incarnation of this Dead Bear Cake every year for my best friend’s birthday. He took such delight in beheading it the first year that I started mixing red velvet in the pan for an added surprise.
I use basic icing dye and flavor each color separately for a wonderful fusion. The icing is freehand on a Wilton 3D teddy bear pan and sits in a bed of two tone roses, 1 rose for every year he’s been alive.
I went a little sloppy on the fur this year, trying for shaggy but the kitchen was hot and the icing was a little soft.
I thought dead bear? Then realized oh! It’s a Grateful Dead bear LOL That is way cool.
