I made this Dinosaur Birthday Cake for my son’s 5th Birthday – he loved it! I baked 2 round cakes and cut the pieces up to form the body (cut one cake in half and put those 2 pieces on their sides to form the middle and the other cake cut the tail piece and use the remainder of that cake for the head and feet).
The fins on the back are made from fondant that I bought already dyed yellow at my local craft store and I rolled it out, cut the pieces with a knife and made designs on with a toothpick and let harden overnight. I made the toenails using this process as well.
For the frosting I used a star tip for the entire cake and I used white fondant rolled in balls for the eyes and black decorating gel for the eyeballs.
