For my son’s first birthday, I planned to make him a small sugar free cake. That turned into a more elaborate dinosaur cake to go along with the dino theme of the party.
We found the directions here and used my cake recipe. (The cake and frosting are both sweetened with agave nectar.) The eyes, claws and scales are all made with gum paste that I removed before serving.
My son wanted nothing to do with eating the cake, but we served it to some of the other kids at the party.
