This Dinosaur cake was a request from my granddaughter for her birthday. I’ve been making cakes for them for some time now, and they get more and more elaborate every year. I think she was really trying to stump me when she asked for a ‘long neck dinosaur’. This was really fun to do, though. And she really loved it. It was a big hit!
The body is made of vanilla cake with strawberry filling. The neck and head are made of rice crispy treats. I covered it all in icing and then fondant and air-brushed the body. I painted in the eyes and mouth with food coloring marker. Then I cut up fruit rollups for the grass he is eating and for the bushes and palms. The water is piping gel, the grass is icing, and the trees are pretzel sticks.
