My son is dinosaur mad so I made him a Dinosaur Stegosaurus cake for his 3rd birthday. He loved it. The look on his face was priceless.
It was made using two 9″ round white/choc marble cakes and then cut into pieces to form a 3D dinosaur. These were all attached to the body and each other using butter cream. Icing was butter cream and was star piping. Make sure before you do your piping that you put a butter cream crumb coat on the cake. Green would be a good color to use. I used white but wished I used green.
The spikes were made from pettince (fondant) which I colored orange and cut out with a sharp knife. The toes were chocolate chips, eyes were two black smarties and mouth was made from chocolate chips and then highlighted with white writing icing.
The piping took the longest. Do large star piping otherwise you will be there forever!
