My friend ask me to make a dinosaur cake for her son’s birthday. I was at a loss and looked up ideas here on coolest b-day cakes. This cake is a combination of ideas that I found.
I just baked a 9×13 for the base. First, I decided where I wanted my stream/river to be and used butter cream for that. Then I used butter cream to cover the rest of the cake green. I piped around the base of the cake and the stream with the grass/fur tip. The volcano, I made rice krispie treats and formed it. Make sure your hands are VERY well greased! I made a marshmallow fondant to cover the volcano.
For the lava, I used butter cream. I piped the first color and used a knife and my finger dipped in cornstarch to smooth it a bit. Then I added the second color the same way. The trees are some I found at the Dollar tree. I cut off the bases and stuck them down into the cake. The dinosaur’s were also a dollar tree find. I wasn’t at the party, but my friend said it was a hit!
