This Dirt Bike cake is a simple sheet cake. I used two boxes of cake mix, chocolate and vanilla. Colored my homemade buttercream icing green and tan and used the scraps from the cake after I leveled it for the hills.
I crushed some Oreo cookies to make the dirt on the track. I would use regular chocolate cookies next time. I had to remove all the white fatty goodness from the Oreo to make plain dirt. What a waste!
I love using fondant so I created a few characters to add a little ME to it. It took about 2 hours. I had a really hard time finding ideas for a dirt bike cake so I hope this helps you!
your idea is great I’ve been looking for a dirt bike cake pan no one has them
this was the best cake my son loved it a lot! thanks for the idea!
I love it. That is too cute. My son will be 3 in April and he wants a dirt bike and four wheeler cake, this will be perfect. I bet mine wont turn out as good as yours did though but I can try. Thanks for posting that.
This is the exact vision I had in my head. Thanks for the great visual. You did a great job!
my son is going to be 2, no dirt bike stuff anywhere. My son is in love with dirt bikes thanks to dad. we are having a party this weekend in lake Tahoe Ca,this going to be perfect so HATS Off to you.
Your cake was AWESOME!! I don’t think I could do the part with fondant. I’ve used several of ideas from the Family Fun magazine;and I’d love to try this one. Only my won’t be as fancy I’m afraid.
Awesome cake! I am making today for son’s 3rd b-day. Next time you need to do dirt just pie the Oreo pie crust and it crumbles fast and easy!
I will be trying this for daughter’s 8th birthday and probably my son’s 2nd birthday in another month…thanks for the great idea!
Cute cake. Son loved it and I was actually able to make it look good.
Thank you so much for posting this! It seems fairly easy and like something I can do… I’m going to attempt it for my fiance at our wedding for a groom’s cake! I’m very excited .
You can just use Oreos and crush them up on a food processor. The white creamy centers are invisible when you do that. Making this cake as we speak (okay, waiting for the cakes to cool).
Wow, this is such an awesome idea for a cake. I am going to make it tomorrow for my boyfriend’s birthday. And here’s a tip, don’t bother looking for a dirt bike cake pan, they are few and far between!
I also loved your idea. I made this cake for my grandson’s 7th birthday. I bought the bike at Walmart’s in the toy section. Everyone loved the cake!
I love the cake, Im doing this for my son’s 5th birthday party. its looks great. thanks for the idea.:)
Hi great cake how did you do the jump is it just built up with icing. thanks heaps
This was the coolest idea i have seen online and it looks pretty easy and edible. I am going to do it for my sons 1st Birthday. How did you make the cake platter?
Thank you! This is great! My son wants a dirt bike cake and I cannot find one anywhere!
I used gram cracker pie crust for dirt :)
I have called every place that makes cakes in our area, my son is in love with motorcross! Unfortunately NOONE has them! EEEKKK!! This looks relatively easy enough and not biting off more then I can chew. My son will love this thank you so much for posting!
