We baked two chocolate cakes two weeks early and put them in the freezer. Then we baked a round vanilla cake with pink food coloring for the top layer. The frosting was homemade, we made one batch with a recipe of food network then another batch made of powdered sugar.
We frosted the entire cake white then added many decorations. We made purple, yellow and blue flowers out of fondant then added pink flowers with frosting mixed with food coloring. The sugar cubes added the castle look to the top tier. Ariel’s pond was extra cake dyed blue and the ocean decorations were also made of fondant. The towers were ice cream cones stacked on top of each other then a waffle cone for the top. The bottom cones were covered with frosting. We dipped the top of the towers into corn syrup then rolled them in sparkly pink sugar.
We made small cupcakes out of vanilla cake with green food coloring. Then topped them with green frosting and sparkly green sugar. The Disney characters were bought at Toys R Us.
The Homemade Disney Princess Castle Cake was for my daughter’s 3rd birthday party. It took us over 7 hours (not including the baking of the cakes). Everyone was very amazed and thought we had bought it at the store!
