With my mother in laws 60th coming up I knew I wanted to make a fab Bichon Frise Dog Birthday Cake as she has a Bichon Frise. I thought I would give it a try.
I made 3 8″ round lemon Madeira cakes I used 2 and 1/2 to make the body then the other half and off cuts to make the head, ears, nose and legs. I sculpted the sides for the back legs and stuck all the pieces together with lemon butter cream. The rounded tops of the cakes were perfect for the bum and chest.
I coated the whole cake with a crumb layer of butter cream then refrigerated. I then piped star shaped dots all over the cake and attached eyes, nose, tongue, collar, hat and mouth made from sugarpaste.
This is actually the practice, I plan to put the actual cake on a nice board etc.
So cute !so beautiful.Excellent work

I’ve got a dog cake to make in a few weeks – was unsure if I should use polystyrene for the head to keep the weight down but looking at your pics I’m more confident using all cake – thank you!!
THANK YOU so much for showing how you sculpted the cake before icing it. Hugely helpful!
