I must admit, this doll cake was more difficult than I thought. Nevertheless, it was still a masterpiece to my little girl. I used the Wilton doll cake pan which comes with the doll stick. The baking part was easy, the decorating part was tough. I put chocolate ganache over the cake once it cooled and then rolled out the fondant icing.
I messed up the back terribly but carried on, hoping to be able to recover from this disaster. After decorating the upper body, and managing to cover up a bit of the mess at the back, I decided to make a trail to cover up the disaster at the back. This really made the difference. The rest was easy, just flowers and then piping dots for the rest. The candles were placed on a block of fondant made to look like a present. My daughter loved her cake.
