Here is a Dora the Explorer cake I made for my daughter’s 4th birthday. I copied a picture from a book she has and then blew it up to the size that would suit the slab cake I had made. I used butter icing tinted to get correct colours. I froze the cake first and then iced one colour at a time and returned it the freezer when I had had enough. This makes the job much more bearable, not having to do it all in one hit.
I cut out the eyes and mouth from the photocopy and used licorice strips to make outline. Boots is a stuffed toy that I dragged out of the toybox!! My daughter loved it but mum nearly cried when it was time to cut the cake.
