This Dragon Birthday Cake was made for my child’s 4th birthday with ideas I found off the net. If you look carefully there is a hole inbetween the nostrils where there is a straw place through the cake and the cardboard box underneath the cake. The straw was connected to a Tupperware lid which had dry ice in it. So when the cake was served it smoked. The kids loved it but I think the parents enjoyed it more.
So the cake is made from two 9 in round cake pans. The first cake is cut in half and set up to make the round body. The other cake is cut into pieces to create the head, tail, and feet using the curves of the cake to create the round spots. The nostrils are kisses, the toes are orange candies, the eyebrows are green candies, the spine on the back are square chocolate cookies cut in half, the eyes are a marshmallow cut in half with mini chocolate chips.
The scale pattern on the dragon was made by using a maker cap. It was a lot easier than I thought.
How do you make the icing ?
The icing is nothing fancy, just the can stuff with very little green food coloring. Hope that helps.
