Coolest Elmo Smash Birthday Cake

I made this Elmo Smash Birthday Cake for my daughter’s first birthday. She loves Elmo and was thrilled to see him on her cake! I used a 6 inch cake pan normally used for the top tier of a wedding cake. I used regular devil’s food cake mix and regular white icing.

I dyed the icing red using a red gel coloring. I used ready made fondant for the eyes and the nose. I added yellow and red coloring to make orange for the nose and mixed that into the fondant. I piped black gel coloring onto the eyes, I also used this for the mouth which was also piped on.
