The Homemade Enchanted Forest Cake was made from two dark chocolate cakes (bottom tier 24cm, top tier 16cm). I tinted up three lot of fondant using the same mossy green wilton gel colour, then made the three pieces slightly different strengths of colour so the cake went from dark to light green.
I also covered the board in the darkest of the green fondant. The letters were made from gumpaste using fondant letter cutters.
The butterflies were made from gumpaste using an embossing plunger cutter and then left to dry in a “V”. They were attached to the cake with a little bit of royal icing.
All the rest of the decorations were made from fondant and attached to the cake using water, except the little daisies – they were made from gumpaste.
