My daughter requested a princess cake for her 5th birthday. I combined some ideas from the internet as well as added some unique ideas to make the perfect castle cake! I prepared 2 boxes of white birthday cake mix and baked in 1 9 X 13 pan, 1 9 inch round and one 4 inch round (adding vanilla pudding to make the cake extra moist). I iced the cake with white icing, stacking the round cakes on top of the 9 X 13 cake.
I used light pink icing to trim around the edges. I rolled 5 sugar cones and 4 cake cones in melted white chocolate chips and sprinkled pink sprinkles over the chocolate before it dried. I allowed them to dry for about 10 minutes. I used melted white chocolate to “glue” inverted cake cones to the four corners of the cake. I stacked pink colored cake cones and decorated sugar cones on top, gluing each with more melted white chocolate. I decorated the rest of the cake with pink candy balls, candy flowers, icing flowers, and sprinkles and pink wafers (for the doors). I added princess fairies to top it off.
It took about 2 hours to decorate. She was delighted with the result!
