I made this Homemade Fairy Land Cake for my daughter’s first birthday. She really likes fairies and I wanted to make a unique cake. The base is just a few 9″ round cakes cut and sloped. I believe I used 4 total. The tree stump was made of Hershey’s chocolate bars that I placed around an empty crystal light container and then I melded them together with melted chocolate. I used some melted peanut butter chips to add some color to the tree stump as well.
I put it all in the freezer to solidify the tree. The leaves on the tree were pre-made sugar icing from Michaels crafts. The mushrooms are meringue cookies that I stuck on top of marshmallows with frosting. I made pink meringue cookies and saved a little un-colored meringue and made the dots on top of the mushrooms. The big rocks around the base are chocolate covered marshmallows and the little rocks were just the chocolate ones that I purchased at a candy store.
The fairy cake topper was one that I found on Amazon. My daughter went straight for the mushrooms on top. The kids were really excited to dig in to it.
