This Farm Birthday Cake was my 4th cake to make. I picked the design off the internet. I saw a cake that was a lot like this and thought it was so cute.
I used 2 9 inch rounds on the bottom and 2 6 inch rounds for the top. I made the cakes and then I put them together with buttercream icing. I made sure the buttercream was put on real thin and smooth so the fondant would lay on well. I rolled out the white fondant to about 1/4 inch thick and then added the black fondant balls. Then I finished rolling the fondant out and that is how I got the cow print.
When the fondant is about 1/8 inch thick I pick it up and lay it over the cake. Then I pat it down around the cake and cut off the excess. I did the same process with the blue. Then I just laid the top cake on the bottom cake. To make the fence I just cut strips and laid them on the cake like a fence.
I used a ricer to make the green grass, I just pushed it through and cut it off. The little animals are all just fondant. I just sculpted them and just sat them on the cake. This was one of the easiest cakes I have made of the 6 I have made so far. It looks difficult but it really is not. People were so impressed with this one and it was the easiest!
This must be one of the most beautiful cakes I have ever seen =)
“Easy”? How in the world do you FORM animals and call this easy? You must have a creative bent…something I very much lack. I’m attempting a “Little house on the prairie” cupcake cake and I’m hitting roadblocks!
Brilliant
