I made this Fashionista Cake for my mom’s birthday. (I won’t say her age or she’ll kill me, LOL!) It’s a two-tier yellow pound cake covered in fondant that I painted with food color. The beading is also fondant. You can’t really see it in this picture but the entire cake is also lightly dusted with gold luster dust.
The shoe is handmade and handpainted with fondant and food color, so is the lipstick. The purse is a small piece of cake covered in fondant and painted with food color. The trim of the purse is pink tinted buttercream. My family really loved it and I hope it gives you guys some great ideas!
All I can say is WOW! Great job!
Are you using regular gel food colouring or is it a special paint for cakes? I’m an amateur cake maker for my family and friends. Just trying to dabble in fondant but hard to work with. I love your cake and it is just so beautiful. I would love to create what you did in time. The thought of painting is a good idea. Especially if you could use stencils as I am not an artist. Look forward to finding more of your cakes.
Kim: Thanks for your comment, that really means a lot. I used regular gel color for the “paint”, I just added a couple drops of clear vanilla to get it to the right painting consistency.
Thanks to all other comments as well!! Happy Caking!
This is such a WONDERFUL cake. When I first saw it, my daughter came to mind. I would love to do this for her birthday.
